Boston Course Long Run
Our last long run for those participating in the marathon will be on the Boston Course on march 25th at 8AM.  We will park at Boston College at the 21.5 mile mark and run the course backwards for a while, turn around when you want.  There will be plenty of water stops along the way for hydrating.  We will leave DB at 7:30 for those that would like to carpool.  For those that want to meet us there, take a right into BC at the bottom of the backside of Heartbreak Hill, just before the cemetery.  Take a left and first left into the parking lot, we will be ready to go at 8.
Boston Bus
We will be leaving from DB Sports at 7AM the morning of the marathon.  Please park in the old Ro-Jacks parking lot next to Sullivan Tire.

Marathon Water Stop
The Wamps will again be manning a water stop at this years Boston Marathon , nobody hydrates a runner like a Wamp!  It will likely be the same one as last year at mile 12.  So if you aren’t running and don’t feel like going to work, we could sure use your help.  Go to www.baa.org.  Go to their website, under marathon, volunteering, find online volunteer registration.  Fill out the information including Wampanoag for club affiliation and 12 mile water stop if they ask.  You can look up your volunteer ID if you have volunteered in the past.  At the end when you submit it, they will ask if you are part of a group, answer yes.  The group name is Wampanoag and the passcode is Betty.

Relays
The Border to Border relay across Rhode Island taking place May 6th. We have won this event several times and it would be great to get a couple of 8 person teams in this. Legs are fairly short...from 2 to 6 miles and the course is mostly gently rolling from the CT border to East Providence . Send me an email as soon as you can so we can get teams scheduled.

Finally, there is the Reach The Beach (RTB) for those who like a little challenge to their running. Although this won't happen until September, we need to get teams set up fairly soon so we can work on logistics etc. Every year we have done this event has been great for those who have participated so shoot me an email and let us know you want to join in the pain…I mean fun.

Info on all of these relays is on Cool Running website so check those out for the particulars. There are some others that we may consider doing depending on interest, so stay tuned for more updates as we get further into the season.  You can reach me at jimmor2@gmail.com

See you on the roads and trails...
Jim

Mt Washington Road Race
This year the Wamps will be receiving a few automatic entries into the Mt Washington Road Race.  We will be getting 5 and it appears to be more than 5 people interested so, if you are interested in the race, please enter yourself in the lottery first at http://www.mountwashingtonroadrace.com (deadline is Thursday May 15)  Sorry for the short notice, it was a busy weekend.  Those that don’t get in through the lottery will have their names drawn from a hat for the 5 spaces.  We will also need to provide 5 volunteers for the race in exchange for the entries.  Anyone interested in please let me know.  It has been some years since the Wamps have sent a group to climb Mt Washington, and the folks at Pinkham Notch are still talking about it…good times, good times.

Wampanoag Triathlon Team

It is now light out for the Wednesday night fun runs!!  No reasons left not to join us for a 6 mile run through the “Cliffs” at many different paces. 6:15 PM Sharp, everyone is welcome to join us.

Fun Runs

You should all know this by now, we are running from DB Sports on Sundays at 8 AM Wamp time.  We are starting a little earlier than usual, 8:10, so don’t be late!) Again, great turnout lately with people doing all different paces and distances.  All are welcome to attend.

Also, Sandy Sheehy hosts regular runs from her house in Lindsey Acres on Saturday mornings for those interested in getting a few extra miles in on the weekend.  These aren’t for the faint of heart as Sandy has been known to make a grown man cry on these “fun” runs.  Distances and sometimes times differ so please contact Sandy at the below information to get the details and let her know you are coming.
